Speed nuts, also known as spring nuts or sheet metal nuts, are locknuts made from spring steel. The fastener is designed with two sheet metal prongs that act as one thread. It functions both as a lock washer and a nut and when it is tightened the base of the nut, which arched, applies a force to the fastener locking it from loosening under vibrationsThe U-nut is a fastener composed of two flaps in clip form with two external raised thread forms. The design of this nut means that a double elastic force is exerted when tightened. This nut can be held in place manually when tightening. No special tools are required to mount U-nuts, and they can be assembled much more quickly and easily than conventional nuts. The self-locking feature means that costly operations such as tapping, welding or riveting can be avoided. It can also be used with fragile materials such as glass, plastic or enameled surfaces. In these cases the resilience of the nut avoids cracks or damage to the application area.This nut locks with tightening torques much lower than for standard nuts due its great resilience.It is normally mounted on the edge of a panel but it can also be used in a rectangular mounting hole in the middle of a panel.

Split lock washers, also known as spring lock washers,  are designed with a split at one point and bent into a helical shape. This causes the washer to exert a spring force between the fastener’s head and the substrate, creating more friction and resistance to rotation.Lock washers are specially designed to keep threaded fasteners from loosening. They prevent vibrations and some have external teeth to prevent rotation. These washers are often found in airplanes and in structural applications.

JM Hardware® carriage bolt has a square shoulder under a rounded head which resists turning when the nut is tightened or removed. The Type A tapping screws have wider spaced threads for self-starting in thin metal or resin filled plywood. Type AB self-tapping screws have more threads per inch that are used in brittle material. Type B tapping screws have a blunt end that are best suited for thru-holes in plastics, thin metal, and non-ferrous materials.
